Before we left Queenstown we got to meet up with some of our uni friends Esme and Jenny, we introduced them to the brilliance of luge and they loved it! Luge twice in two days, pretty good! We also introduced them to life in the campervan and we all had dinner together, it was a bit more of a squash than usual but we managed fine. After dinner we went out in Queenstown and ended up in Minus 5 an ice bar, we were all expecting something quite amazing, but is was really just a glorified Fridge, not very big! But a good laugh!

The next day we drove onto Franz Joseph where we booked up to do the glacier climb. It was really good fun, you have to walk for about 40 minutes to reach the bottom of the glacier then we walked a further 40 minutes up the glacier. We got to go in two ice caves on the way up, which was amazing. The second cave involved climbing up a very tight opening, very cold but good fun! We also got to walk along a crevice, which was cool. It was a really good day and the pace was quite slow as the guide had to cut the steps up the glacier as we went with an axe, so when we finished we were wondering why everyone was complaining about there legs aching, but the next day we realised the pain, the stairs in and out the van were quite painful!

Next entry: Blenheim then over to Wellington
