My entry into the US this time was really bumpy. Not the plane, I landed smoothly in Hawaii only to have a scary customs experience. Hawaiian customs confiscated all 1000 pieces of my new jewelry saying that I had too much for an informal entry and that I would need to hire a customs broker and that I would have to ship my hand-carry suitcase full of jewelry to LA. Well 10 days, a lot of sleepless nights, and after paying lots of extra money… I freed my jewelry from the clutches of the US customs system.
Jewelry in hand… I headed across country driving from CA to Scottsdale where I had a jewelry show at a customer’s house. It was very successful so I will have to try to do more home parties. Got any ideas? Next I headed to Santa Fe to place my new jewelry in all of the Galleries that carry my line. The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed driving the back roads of the turquoise trail to Madrid. Santa Fe is always a treat any time of year.
A day later, driving my last leg home in a sundress and enjoying the spring weather…. I get within 30 minutes of my house when all of the sudden it starts snowing really hard, can hardly see out the window, wipers can’t keep up full-on blizzard hard. I make it home and it continues to snow all night. Wow, what a change from Bali, California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Home sweet, cold home.
