So I was inundated with new school material this past week…..therefore I was unable to get anything good posted this week…..but I hope to get some more posts here soon.
I did want to post this one story that I forgot about.
A few weeks back I was taking the bus into Nicoya….which takes about 1 hr. The trip was going well and I felt pretty lucky as I had a seat on the bus. Since cost of goods in Samara is about 50% more than Nicoya there are always a ton of people going to and from Nicoya. So there I was…..a gringo packed into a bus with about 100 Latinos……oh, I also forgot to add that it was 105 that day. Somewhere about halfway to Nicoya someone who had stepped in horseshit (it could have been cow shit) boarded the bus. One by one….people started grumbling about the smell. Considering that my Spanish is still pretty limited……I still feel like I am at a cattle auction when I listen to native Spanish speakers….so it took me a little while to figure out what was actually going on. Some of the men on the bus started yelling at the person with the shit on his shoes…telling him to get off. The yelling started to get pretty heated……and finally the bus stopped so the man with shit on his shoes could get off the bus.
OK…..so I am hoping that some of the people reading this are seeing what is so ironic about this situation. What do you get when you take a public bus with no AC, 105 degree weather, 100 Latinos, and a gringo? A stinky fucking bus!! If I were blind and got on that bus…..I would have guessed that someone was transporting dirty taints dipped in cheap cologne to Satan. Hell…..we all smelled as if we had been digging ditches all day……and here these people are bitching about someone with shit on their shoes.
Personally…..the smell of Mr. Ed was a welcome change……
Hasta Luego
