Well we arrived in Christchurch airport very late on friday night, so we had a rather uncomfortable and cold nights sleep at the airport, its all part of the experience i suppose! Then at 8am we got to pick up our beauty of a campervan, just a short first drive to the campsite which would have been even shorter if we hadn't gone the complete wrong way out of the rental place! I really enjoy driving the campervan, its so much more powerful than my car and power steering that is a novelty! Although essential for a campervan i think! Anyway we stayed 2 nights in Christchurch went into the catherdral in the city centre (a bit of culture, mum!) a lot of souvenier shops and up in a Gondola, where we say some amazing scenery! The landscape here is truely amazing.
Next we drove from Christchurch to Mount cook, it was a very beautiful drive lots of amazing mountains, lakes, gorges etc. We stopped of at Lake Tekapo for some lunch and visited the church of the good shepard (more culture for you mum!. Mount cook village was quite small and in the middle of nowhere, i don't think i could live in such isolation although the Restaurant/bar we found with a log fire and view of the mountains was pretty nice! We also did a short walk up above the village and got some awesome pictures! We spent just one night here, its was very pretty but not much to do here, and very very cold!
