Easter Week I went down to the Eastern Region with my friend Cheri to visit our friends Travis and Ira. The Eastern Region is a totally different world compared to the North.
Cheri and I cruised our way down South to Accra on a 13hr metro bus ride. The ride was long, hard on our bottoms, and exhausting! We left Tamale around 8am and arrived in Accra around 8pm or so just in time to enjoy some St. Patrick cheer!!!
That night we stayed in Accra. The next day Travis took me around the city, showing me super markets that I had long gone forgotten existed! Let me tell you, Travis took me to a groceries store which was overwhelming to say the least!! The store had a produce section, bakery, package meat section, and alcohol, you name it was there. Totally different compared to what I normally buy for food, spaghetti noodles, tomato paste, tomatoes, red onions, rice, beans and MAYBE green peppers and cucumbers, oh and the meat is usually butchered right then and there in front of you. At one point I kind of feared what will happen to me when I enter a groceries store for the first time in the States, "Is this cheese?"
After seeing the craziness in Accra Travis and I headed to his site, Dawu. In Dawu he showed me is Tree nursery. He has planted mahogany, militia thongini. He also showed me is farm land that was given to him. And he made AWESOME Food!! He's a good cook THANK GOD!!!
The day before Easter, Cheri, Ira, Travis and I met up with some friends to go paragliding. It was Amazing! We were about 2,500 ft. before jumping off after that I seriously have no clue how high we were. I must say this though before jumping I was instructed by my pilot who was attached behind me on how to run before take off. Well...my running ended up with me tripping and then falling and well....must I say more my friends kind of feared for me then laughed. As for me I was totally embarrassed, but anyone who knows me knows that something like that WOULD happen to me. I was up in the air for about 30 minutes! IT was soooo amazing, so relaxing, so peaceful I didn't want to come down. After landing (falling on my ass) we all went out to meet the pilots at their lodging for some beers.
After the fun week Cheri and I headed back up to the North! Yay!! Where the weather is now up to 108 degrees Fahrenheit and so DRY as compared to the South where it rains, but the humidity is I think high.
