..... Don't worry, haven't had one done nor do I intend to ! (I've just tried to put the word tattoo into spellcheck on Word then realised of course the spellcheck is Spanish - doh !) This Thursday evening one of the bars - Bungalow 6 - is throwing a party with the door money all going to our Bruce Ecuador foundation so we've been out leafleting around the Mariscal area and I found myself in a tattoo parlour with a full view of a chest tattoo taking place, ugh ! On the night the volunteers have to man the doors ! How funny, another new experience for me, being a bouncer. I'm trying to get a black bomber jacket, Doc Martin boots, a machine gun and a truncheon so I can blend in with all the other bouncers here !
Well, I've hit the 6 month mark, it sort of doesn't feel like that long, Guatemala doesn't seem that long ago but little things do .... like when I bought the bandana in Granada, Nicaragua and had to spend about an hour in my room trying to work out how to get the damn thing to stay on my head. Being in Caye Caulker seems like a lifetime ago. I do get days (not many really, if that doesn't sound too horrible !) when I miss my friends and my family but I just give into feeling a bit mopey for a day, no point fighting it. In just 9 days time my mum and dad fly out here to Quito and I CAN'T WAIT !! I'm sure we'll be bored with each other after a day or two but by then I'll be packing them off to Cuenca - tee hee! The last time I saw them was at Madrid Airport 6 months ago - weird.
This weekend I was supposed to be going to the beach, somewhere near Esmeraldas but I've just heard that 2 of the head "yah yahs" are still around, have heard about it and have invited themselves along .... unless I can get a t-shirt saying "STATE SCHOOL AND PROUD" I'm going to avoid that one.
Well, I've finished all of James Patterson's books now, found a book at the house the other day - The Hours (was a film), bloody hell, that's a difficult read. It's like that bloody PD James, far too much descriptive text. There was 2 pages of a woman deciding whether to go into the kitchen to get a coffee or not, describing what she was seeing whilst making the momentous decision, what she was wearing .... there's just no need. I "accidently" bought a couple of James Patterson's books aimed at a teenage audience and they were actually really good page turners, about kids who have wings and they can fly. I think I enjoyed them probably more than someone of my age should have !
Pub Quiz again tonight, I have to do 2 rounds because my posh boys have gone so tonight it's ... The world of Gambling and Popular US TV exports (Seriously !) .... For Ian I've put in a McSteamy question and when I tested out one of the questions on the gambling section on James he fell about laughing .... "are you trying to tell me someone KIDNAPPED a racehorse ??!", when I told him the IRA were suspected that nearly finished him off. I haven't dreamt Shergar up have I ??!
