We survived the first day! : ) All 15 girls went to sleep in our military style bunks with individual mosquito nets without top sheets or blankets to wake up at 4 am freezing. Needless to say, I was SOO glad I decided to throw a blanket in my bag at the last minute. We have now cleared things up and have sheets. Anyways, today was our first day out and about. After orientation in the morning, we had our first experience with a guagua ride...the local public transportation. With 19 people in the van, the three of us shoved in the passenger front seat had a pretty comfy ride. We then managed to find our way through the city following a scavenger hunt that required us to barter for a pineapple, buy a band aid, find random shops and complete other tasks. Thankfully we managed to end up in the right spot and we managed to get some tasty ice cream along the way. We are now back at the ILAC center, our main base, and completing more orientation. Tomorrow we are heading out to all the clinics and will be starting working on Tuesday. More updates to come.
