With more than 300 days of sunshine a year the scarcity of water resources remains the foremost issue in Arizona. But that doesn't't bother the tall majestic saguaro cactus that is widespread around Phoenix and grows to incredible heights.
Of course the sun was shining while we drove to visit the wildlife park "Out of Africa". In case you haven't noticed before we are both in love with "big cats". Here there was no shows but the staff was interacting spontaneously with the animals. In this sanctuary all the animals was rescued from illegal traders. Here they had found a home and a life with dignity, even if they were not't free. Wow. Here we got to feed the tigers.....and guess what? Yes ......we are still alive....
Next visit was a day together with the Native Americans. The 20th Annual Inter tribal Powwow took place in Mesa, close to Phoenix. A three day gathering with several tribes performing and dancing in colorful costumes. While listening to the songs and the sound of the drums we felt transported to another culture and time.
And yes, we avoided the rattlesnakes but found ourselves in Rawhide an authentic 1880's Wild West town. Stepping back in time with "good guys and bad guys", shootouts, saloon girls and cowboys made us relive the old western days.
