Hello everyone!
We are in Hervey Bay now and it is POURING rain!
So two nights ago after my last entry we used our free meal that we recevied with our vacation package and went out for dinner at the Koala hostel! We both had steak which was a nice break from cooking for ourselves! We had a great night as the hostel was full of other backpackers like us. We ended up playing pool with two guys from Vancouver who were working in the town for a few months. Yes, I lost at pool :o)
The next morning, I went surfing! And yes I survived, and yes I stood up!!! It was so fun and a lot easier than I thought! I only managed to hit myself in the face with my surf board once! It was great! As usual Jason was good at it as he seems to be good at any sport the first time he tries it! I got up quite a bit and surfed slowly in to shore. But most times I would be so excited I got up that I would lose concentration and fall over anyway! But I am really glad I tried it :o)
In the afternoon, we had two hours of Kayacking and we paddled up along the river where all the rich people have houses that they can drive their yachts up to...it was quite nice actually and the weather held out for the day :o)
That night we drove up to a campground we read about in Lonely Planet (our gudiebook). The book said it was out in the sticks but as we continued to drive it got a bit ridiculous! We went 2 km down a dirt road that only had a house at the end only to turn around and go all the way back. We then called the campground to find out that we had gone the right way and the camp was just past the house!!! We went all the way BACK down the dirt road again...
Anyway when we finally got there it really was a bush camp...a bunch of tents set up on a lake with a kitchen tent and a tent that had a TV in it!
It was so crazy and the people that ran it seemed like they never left! But we cooked dinner and watched a movie in our spaceship before heading to bed. This morning we drove to Hervey Bay. We have two nights here before we head to Fraser Island on Sunday!!!
