OK….so I have been in my new home for 5 days and the opportunity to move from “gringo with the bob Marley tunes” over to a member of the family arose. When I first arrived at the house….I noticed that there was a brand new bicicleta (it was all in pieces) in one of the bedrooms. This afternoon I asked Alexis what was wrong with the bike, who was it for, ect…. Ends up, this was a bike they purchased for Janet as a birthday present 3 months ago. I continued to limp through a conversation with Alexis and came to the determination that they did not know how to put the bike together nor did they have the money to pay for someone to put it together. Well….it just so happens that just a few months ago, I put 4 bikes together myself…so off to work I went. After about an hour….the bike was complete and fully functional. For the first time…..I feel as if they are starting to like me just a bit.
One other note…..they had none of the tools necessary to put the bike together. I had the chance to see just how handy my Leatherman tool can be……I highly recommend taking one on any trip.
