Hello everyone. It has definitely been awhile. I yet again have been busy with training things. We just got back from our week long technical trip to southern Bolivia. It was HOT HOT HOT. I can only compare it to the Southwest of USA, but with more vegetation. I felt like I was in an oven and then at night I felt like I was in a refrigerator. So, I had the option to make that place my site but I opted out from that for the obvious reasons.
So, the question of the hour is where will I be spending the next two years… It is Mairana and in the middle of Bolivia one hour from the tourist hub, Semaipata. I’m really happy that not only will I probably have running water, but also cell phone service and internet. Who would have saw that coming? The site itself is in between two ecosystems, rainforest and mountains. I’m really excited because I have a chance to coordinate activities and guides with Amboro National Park. It looks like it will be perfect for me. It’s kinda hard to believe that I will be living in a place for two years. I still haven’t visited it. I get to do that next week. I also get to figure out my living situation, who I’m going to live with and where I will live. So, I hope that my site will entice you to visit me! It should be fun.
I am kinda sad that I will be ending training soon because I have grown attached to some of the people in the training group and I don’t want them to leave because I probably won’t see them more than three times a year. Some people I will see more often.
So, for those that have missed my birthday, which was a week ago. I still could use a few things for care packages. So, send me a message and I will let you know what things I need and the address that you can send them to. Let me also say that a lot of people have received packages…I, on the other hand, have yet to receive anything. Some people doubt that I have family and friends in the USA.
Anyways, this is just a quick update as to what I am doing these days. I will add pictures as soon as I can. It’s a little hard now because I have soo many that I don’t know which ones to add.
