First of all, let me just admit that unfortunately I cannot find any of the picture that I took in Philippines. So all the picture in this PARTICULAR story is googled :D Better than nothing lah!
I’ve been to Philippines twice now. All are for business trip only. I have to say, south east asia is actually pretty much looks the same from one place to the other (except for Singapore, which is more structured). It’s similar weather. Similar vegetation. Buildings here and there. The only differences are the signs and language.
Hence I feel Manila and Makati City is just similar to Cimahi – a small town near my hometown Bandung in Indonesia. Well, there are skyscrapers but it’s like bundled together. Sorry to say - although I have some good friends in the country, but for me somehow Philippines is just bland and not inspiring. Well, don’t get offended - I also think that way of the current city I lived in :D Or maybe because I didn’t get around passed Makati City. Only hotel, office (which is across the hotel), Glorietta mall (which is across the office) – hence I don’t feel anything special there.
Interesting thing about Philippines is the transportation means. They have this Jeepney – which basically old cars from 60’s being used for mass transportation mode. And they are willing to stop anywhere you want – just like in Indo. Another intriguing part is the delicacy. I’ve never tried it yet – but I saw it couple of times as challenges in Amazing Race. Balut. Boiled duck embryo. Well, I already didn’t like regular eggs, so this balut most likely I wouldn’t like ha ha… But who knows someday I’ll try it.
Hmm sorry, really not much to say about the place. Let me spare my energy to discuss other places later on :D Try reading other journals/stories in my blog, I think those are more interesting.
