Yes, it's that time again when lots of foil wrappers lie crumpled on the floor or poked down the side of the couch, the contents of the wrappers now only a memory.... a memory that is until my next hiphop class and i'll be wishing i hadn't eaten that last creme egg. We are meant to shimmy and shake and 'pop' (no not that kind...) when the routine calls for it - not whenever my body decides to do its own thing... ah the joy of dancing in front of mirrors..

My HipHop minor class consists of an hour on wednesday and an hour on Thursday - we have two tutors - one for each day and two different routines - this can make for confusing practice times. And there are a lot of those in my quest to not be the worst dancer in the class...and to those of you who laughed when you found out i was doing hip hop ( you know who you are) you are the driving force behind this determination.

The moves are coming ( even though there are some moves that my body just refuses to do 'properly') the attitude may take a little longer - but i'm going to have to find it fast as i'm in the front row for the block test that we have in 3 weeks times. exciting times ahead - not to mention getting some hiphop style tips as apparently they mark on appearance.
yup....

But Hip Hop aside, things are going pretty well - people still think i'm fresh out of high school - my wrinkles mustn't be showing yet... - we're studying Keith Green for Biographical studies, learning how we should be loving ourselves before we even think about loving others _ they go into some pretty heavy stuff in relationship studies and i realise i take for granted that A) I have a Mum and a Dad B) They are married C) I grew up with them D) i wasnt exposed to bad stuff growing up... the list goes on but i have to say Thanks to God for that blessing and to Mum and Dad - you guys did a good job!

One of the rather cool things is on a Thursday Morning we have 'Bible' first up - we get NZQA credits for reading the bible for an hour. Score!
and this is followed by 'Devotion' which is basically a worship time and a testimony from one of the staff or John - the principal - (can you imagine being on a first name basis with Lincoln uni's vice chancellor? i can't..) brings the message. Its a pretty cool way to start the day.

In vocal ( the one on one lessons) I am learning to breathe again. but this time we're actually making use of our lung capacity - you should try it sometime! We are debunking the myth that our shoulders should rise when we breath in ( wrong!!!) and we are practicing how long we can continue to let a breath out - my best is 34 sec but people are getting 50 sec - gee whiz!! i just dont recommend you do it to many times in a row or you end up getting light headed and having to stick your head between your knees....

Band arrangement is proving a challenge for me - we have to do things like break songs down into the components eg bars, verses etc etc - who knew counting could be so challenging? and know we have to break down the songs into the 'dynamic flows' which includes noting every single instrument and vocal and everything they do in the song so you have to be able to tell what instruments are what - easy in a simple song with a vocal, gat (the cool word for guitar apparently..) bass and drums but some songs are really complex and apparently i have quite a crappy ear in terms of listening.... great news.

Well i have to sign off as im about to have lunch with Phillipa mac cos we are in Tauranga for the easter break which is great cos i get to catch up with my friends from high school which is always good times ( i have to write that cos they get this blog..... :p ) nah, its great to catch up and hear exciting plans that involve world exploration ( of which i am a staunch advocate (see other journal) ) and new jobs and babies and stuff.
and chocolate eating is encouraged...

But i will leave you with my highlight of the week - had to be sitting in the common room at school listening to 5 or 6 P.I's (pacific islanders) sing a song from high school musical (and have more people join in) and viva forever by the spice girls amongst others - they never cease to surprise me with their repertoire of songs.

Peace out.
Don't forget what Easter is all about - The easter bunny never died for anyone did he.
Love KJ
