I'm a long way from home

Maybe not as far away as some places last year - but this is for a year!!

Just thought i would say a quick hello and let you know where i'm at and what i'm up to! I think tonight will be the basic facts - it's getting late and i'm getting tired.

As of last friday I am a resident of 68 Taylor Street Blockhouse Bay Auckland. Certainly can't complain about my digs, i'm boarding with a lady called Barbara Newdick... ( no comments needed!) She's a very chatty lady and we get on quite well which i am very glad about.
She has a cat 'kittycat' who at this stage of 8 days and counting, holds the record for resisting my endeavours to make friends.... Kittycat is a snob. But how long can she hold out....

I'm studying at "Excel Ministries School of Performing Arts" which is based in New Lynn, which is a rather convenient 20 min walk from my house, its a christian based performing arts school with strong links to the polynesian / maori communities. So there are a high number of guys and girls with amazing natural rhythm and singing ability. and then there are those who have to try a whole lot harder...like me. I was far too intimidated to even sing out loud by myself until today. This is going to be a very big exercise in self confidence for me which can only be a good thing!

Well so much for basic facts...
i need to go to home and go to bed - i don't sleep very well in the heat, so i should make the most of what i can get! The updates wont be terribly frequent as Excel is sadly lacking in the computer access area. A very nice lab of apple imacs with pro - logic on them and nothing else. So i have to rely on the kindness of Phil Mac's host parents '- is that what you call the people you board with?? - who have broad band.

Anyway i'll just leave you with some advice - Don't turn your lights on while driving your car and one (or more) of Auckland's torrential downpours occurs and then forget to turn them off... for 4 days. Your car will be as dead as it could possibly be. but you already knew that.

Catch yas later!
KJ

Next entry: mmm chocolate....
