After I last wrote we headed off to the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel and enjoyed a Singapore Sling in the dry. It was pretty nice and we had a big bowl of free peanuts to tuck in to! The tradition is to just discard the peanut shell on the floor so we had quite a bit of fun doing that too!
We then headed down the road to a place called SunTech City (I think) where they boast the Fountain of Wealth which is apparently the World's Largest Fountain. It was quite impressive and they had this light show going on too. We then had dinner at an Indian restaurant at the bottom of the fountain (it was inside so we again remained in the dry). It was extremely nice and instead of plates we had banana leaves to eat off.
Yesterday was our last full day in Singapore so we decided to head to Sentosa Island which is at the bottom of Singapore and is their touristy place. It rained again but we'd got used to wet feet by this point so it didn't spoil the day. We started off at an aquarium which was pretty cool, they had rays, jelly fish, sharks and lots of other fish. Just outside there was a man letting people have their picture taken with a snake so Lizzy and I had a go!
We then headed off to the beaches on the Island which are artificial but still looked quite nice and took a walk over this bridge to the most Southrern Point of the Asian Continent apparently.
They had a Luge attraction (Kinda like a toboggan) there which we'd put off for a little while as it was so wet but decided to have a go and it was lots of fun and we're gonna look into doing it in Austraila and New Zealand too. We had a race and Lizzy won the first time and I pipped Emily just before the finish line to take second place. Once at the bottom of the luge you take a skyride (chairlift) back up to the top. We had another go later in which Emily won and I came second, at leat I was consistent. In between the Luge races we went to see a Dolphin show which starred pink dolphins which was also rather cool.
To finish our day off on Sentosa Island we went to this water and laser show called sounds of the sea which was was alot better then I ws expecting. It also comprised some actors who acted out this vague story the show was set around and sang (well mimed) and was quite cheesy but it was entertaining.
We just packed up our bags and checked out as we're off to Australia this evening and typically on the day we're leaving its brilliant sunshine!
