My first volcano experience

2008-03-10, Granada, Nicaragua

Today I went to my very first volcano... although I didnīt get to see lava. I did get to look in a crate spewing forth noxious gases! Still a pretty awesome sight.

I did a tour of the Masaya volcano and the surrounding area. Other than the volcano experience, we went to a rather depressing fort that was used as a jail during cival war, a craft market and at the end of the day we went swimming in a fresh water lake. We were assured that it was not the same lake that we could see from the top of volcano Masaya, which we were repatedly told was toxic and could not be used for anything.
