The sun shown on my face as I strapped on my helmet and mounted my ride. Ok it's a freaking scooter, but hey it's Korea. A guy here can wear pink camo and nobody looks twice. Anyway the weather was beautiful and the feeling of sunshine did feel refreshing compared to the freezing winds that have been the norm for the past 3 months. One of my friends,Jake who has a motorbike, and I decided it was a perfect day for a ride. We had heard about and seen on the map a fortress that looked like something to check out so we headed up into Palgong Prov. The area is the mountains and the ride was awesome. We missed our turnoff and drove up and around to the backside of the mountain range. This side isnt in the sun which meant the woods were still covered in about 3 inches of snow. This was kinda awesome since we were in scooters and the day was a warm day for early March. The problem was the roads were sanded which I learned quickly means dont use your front breaks. I didnt crash but did get a scare and a jammed knee.
After getting chased by dogs and taking some pics in the snow, we did finally find the fortress. It was not as cool as it sounded but was really nice. It was a wall with a huge gate, much like all the others I have seen. It sometimes strikes me odd that looking at ancient walls and fortresses have become common. Nothing in the U.S. is even close in age of these sites. The day turned out really nice and I even got a bit of sun so I don't look like Casper. I posted some pics so enjoy!
