Another neat stop was the Grand Caymans and of course we went to Stingray City. I don't care how many blogs or internet stories you read on this adventure but DO IT!!! I know a stingray killed Steve Irwin of which I was a HUGE fan and that was very sad and a freak accident but these creatures are very docile and you can hold and kiss them even! We hand fed them and loved it so much I would most certainly do it again. Risks...yes...of course but you risk your life just by getting into your car everyday, you do the math.
I was of course reserved and nervous about getting into the water with these big rays. You hear all kinds of things but still everyone has a unique experience. If you listen to folks on the internet that complain they still aren't getting the big picture. For one, you are doing something very different, this isn't your sons guppy ya know so just be respectful and try to relax and enjoy yourself. I got in the water, nervous, looking all over for a ray when boom, there they were. Graceful in every way. I was under the water mesmerized in no time taking photos of Troy feeding them. They would suck his whole hand into their mouths but while there is a lot of pressure they can't really hurt you without teeth. The only dangerous part is the stinger. Like I said, don't be stupid and you'll have no problems. We of course purchased the CD from the company that took us out by way of a catamaran. It was well worth the money too!
After that excursion was over we spent some time in town. I must say being with the rays was better. The town was beautiful but VERY crowded and every shop was very high priced. Thats okay for a lot of folks but I couldn't really find anything unique to purchase. I probably could have if we had gone to some shops off the main street but we opted for a cold lemonade and waited for the ferry to pick us up. Another great adventure behind us we couldn't wait until tomorrow.
