Our Ocho Rios experience

Another stop on our Western Caribbean honeymoon cruise was Ocho Rios Jamaica! At dock we pulled up to some kind of old factory and caught a bus taxi over to a small beachy area and jumped about a party catamaran to Dunns River Falls. On the way over they serve some alcohol free punch and have plenty of music and dancing lessons going on from the boat crew. They will not serve you alcohol until the return trip. I mean hey...who needs to take a drunken spill off a 500' waterfall....um not me.

On the way over we passed the estate of the late tennis star Arthur Ashe. It was gorgeous from what we could see. A lovely waterfall cascaded down the side of the cliff. Well we jammed along to the music until we reached a dock where we departed. Now Dunns River Falls doesn't look steep but it does have some steep places. The rocks however grip you feet, they aren't really slippery except in a very few places. If it is hot it doesn't really matter because there is so much shade everywhere. Troy and I were at the top of the line [yes, everyone has to hold hands so be sure you do not have to hold hands with someone you have to drag up behind you]and the guide had a hold of me. We stopped every once in a while for a photo opp and of course the staff videos the whole thing for purchase later. Do it, even if you think its hokey do it, it is a lot of fun to watch later on. We had water splashing fights then reformed the line and moved on up. It was GREAT!!!!!

Once done we were so beat we could hardly muster the strength to do much at our next stop on this little stretch of beach. We were deposited there for a couple of hours. I had to fend off the ladies wanting to braid my hair. I told them I didn't have much left and didn't wish to continue on my cruise looking like an open mini blind had attached itself to my head.

After that I have never been so "done" in my life. We didn't shop at all and I regret it. I like to buy at least one unique item when we travel but couldn't muster the strenth to walk around that long. Maybe next time.
