We are back in Bangkok! We mnanaged to make the sleeper train back up north (we were slightly worried we were going to miss it, as although companies help you get on to the islands really easily, app it is a little harder getting back to the main land!). We are now staying on Khao San road, a lovely place which basically consists of 4 walls and a cold shower. But we are only here till Tuesday so can put up with it, although it is not like the luxury that we had on the island! Yesterday we visited the Grand Palace and the 2 main wats in the area, one with an emerald buddha and then one with a giant gold reclining buddha- this was our touristy day, although we didnt last long going back to the room for a siesta! I think the lack of sleep on the train and the bustle of Bangkok shocked us after laying on the beach for a week. A few pigeon people also annoyed us, chasing us to give us corn to feed the birds, literally running away from an old woman! Today we went to Siam shopping area, its a very posh place, with loads of designer stores and plants/waterfalls going down the centre walls. We got our hair cut as a treat to ourselves (back on the budget now) but it's nice to feel less like a backpacker! Only 2 full days left till we leave this crazy place, and we are spending tomorrow with Tan and Phung again, so that should be a fab day!
