Day 9:

Without the desert heat or the sun to wake me I slept-in a fair amount, then got up and went downstairs to register for the 40 dollar Texas hold ‘em tournament. I went outside to the IHOP and spent an hour waiting for a seat. There was a real big line because it was about ten a.m. and many people had just finished a long night of spending the kids’ college fund and needed some health food to sooth their broke guts. I flirted with the steak and eggs before settling on a fifteen egg and block of cheese omelet. I went back to the hotel after breakfast and spent a few minutes in the sports book lounge as a small but dedicated group of depressed power-smokers set watching sports that no one cared enough about to show up to live. Finally it was time to go play three hands before losing all my money, which is pretty much what happened.

I called on the first round of betting and during the second round, I folded. The next card out gave me my strait, the one I no longer had. I would have won, but I had figured why lose it all on the first hand. Five hands later I finished losing all my money, and was the first person from 3 tables out the door. Probably a blessing in disguise. So I went up to my room and finished my breakfast and took a nap. After my nap and some sports center, I got a cab to go see a movie. I watched the movie Knocked Up, it was pretty good, and it planned out perfectly because I just walked next door into MGM and made my way through the labyrinth of slots, tables, bars and restaurants. I was amazed, MGM was alive and full of people, and it wasn’t the complete downer my hotel was. Seriously, the stratosphere is the Wal-Mart of casinos. Anyways I had reservations for the 9 o’clock show of the Cirque du Soliel show, Ka. It was about the coolest thing I had seen in my life, and had made going to Vegas totally worth it. After the show, which I wanted to see again immediately, I went for a walk down the strip. Vegas is cool (literally) at night. I am sure if I had a bunch of money and a group of buds I could have a good time here. When my feet could take no more I got a cab back to my hotel and hit the sack.
