Traveling across South East Asia I have come to the realisation that each country I go to becomes ritcher and more developed as we go along. Ironically the more developed places, Singapore & Malaysia, were once British colonies. The mediocratic monerchy of Thailand, was never colonisede but Cambodia, by far the least developed, was French. Need I say more.

Spent the day in Penang yesterday. I managed to rope dad into another death defieing journey on a motorbike, this time pioleted by me! We zipped around the island dodging crazy malay drivers, who might I add, are much better than their Thai counterparts, who might I add, are much better than their Cambodian counterparts. My first impression of Penang was of the Gold Coast, stinky hot, overdevelopment and ugly skyrises, but as we raced along a road cut into the coast line I was reminded more of the magestic Great Ocean Road. Discovering little beaches and street stalls, we decided to stop and went in for a swim befor heading up a phenicular railway. Traveling to a dissy height of 700m, I pondered the silly name of Phenicular and wondered why he never had a sencible name, something that would relate to his invention, like Mr Cable Car, or Mr Counterwait.

I was reminded of my Japanese teachiung days as I entertained a Japanese family sleep a few cabbins down from us on our sleeper service. It was strangly refreshing to hear fluent Japanese language and the silly expresions that uniformally tend to make. I was slowly rocked to sleep as the train clicky clacked into the night. Awaking, my eyes were treated to a feast as we entering Kuala Lumpur, the last major city on this trip and it definantly is an interesting place. Hosting the world's once tallest building, the Petronis Towers, and the worlds 4th largest tower, the KL Tower, the F1 race and a Cultural Festival, KL is definantly full of adventure. But adventure we've had quite a bit of lately, so after a few small activities we retired early to a charming colonial stlye cup of tea in the former residence of the Highest British Commander to the Malay States. The tea never stopped coming, with a frest pot every two minuites and cakes and scones a plenty. One can only wonder with envious eyes what it would have been like to be a British Colonial all of thoes years ago.

From here on in we head into the jungle for two nights before travelling back to Singapore to catch our flight back home. So more adventure lies ahead, as long as we take it a day at a time, the end (and dreadful return to work) will be cast away.
