After a 24 hour bus ride that took two different buses and a layover in Lima, made it to Trujillo late last night from Arequipa. Trujillo is where Iīll start from to begin my look around the north of the country and being the third largest city in Peru itīs somewhat chaotic. The Plaza de Armas is rather peaceful since the police have it blocked off from the taxis right now and its sunny, nice change from the rain down south.
Spent half the day walking the city and there are no shortages of cell phone shops and paper supply shops. Not much for bodegas though there is a block of restaurants, clothing stores and a super mercado on the 700 block of Calle Pizarro. There is also a large central market off of Calle Bolivar but didnīt hold much of interest for me. The stalls seemed to be an exact replica of the one next to it, selling the same stuff as everyone else.
Cool thing about Trujillo is there are alot of Pre-Columbian sites here and the beach is a few km away. Going to photograph Chan Chan (largest pre-columbian site in the Americas) and Huacas de Luna y Sol starting tomorrow then head to the ocean for awhile.
