Carnaval

So the past few days have been pretty slow because of the holiday, Carnaval, which is like Mardi Gras. Here they like to throw water ballons and shoot people with water guns. I have only been shot a few times because I have been sick with the flu for the past three days, which really sucks when you are roughing it. The family that I am living with doesn't have hot water for the showers, so today was the first day that I took a shower since I have been sick. Gross, I know. I would have taken one earlier but the weather here is really finicky. Some days it will be cold and rainy and others it is hot and sunny. It's hard to figure out what day is what.

The family I live with is cool. It's a grandmother, her daughter, husband and their kids. They are all pretty quiet. I really haven't gotten to know them because I been sick and in bed a lot of the time. I hope that will change now that I feel better. They seem really nice, though.

We haven't started to work because of the holiday. We're going to start tomorrow. I'm ready to do that because I'm ready to get this going.

I am getting to like the majority of the volunteers here. They all are pretty nice and helpful.

My Spanish is improving a little because I'm starting to remember certain words that I forgot. I hope that I will be up to par by the end of training.

Overall, it is a little of a change, but nothing to difficult, yet...
