Today was a Monday. Mondays were invented by employed people at least 12 years ago and commemorate the beginning of a working week. Excluding farmers and housewives who apparently work hard all the time. For the unemployed like us it’s a day similar to most others but with less other people on the road. That being said on our way from Hahei Beach to Waitomo Caves the scenic lookouts were busy. These are essentially lay-bys with a view. Ronnie developed a new game to pass time where she would wind down the window when passing these places and shout LOOK OUT! Very very funny, although I got the impression that people just thought we were odd.
We stopped off at a gorge on the way for a walk and some lunch. The walk took us along an old gold mine rail line including a rather dark and long tunnel. Pretty cool all up, lots of history to the place too. After lunch it was off to Hamilton gardens before arriving at our campsite near the waitomo caves. Tomorrow we’re booked on to a 5 hour underground adventure thing. Sounds great and we’ll let you know how we go.
