Greetings all and welcome back! Today we ventured into the heart of Bangkok's Shopping district, MBK... and before you ask, i dont even think the designer of the facility knows what MBK means! The shopping was much more productive than yesterday and the best thing was there were no TAILORS, no Tuk-Tuk's and not as many bad smells!
The shopping centre is broken up into sections, each specialising in a certain product. These ranged from Jewelery, to CD's, to crossbows. If only Australian customs weren't so strict. We managed to fill our day packs to the brim with shirts, wallets and purses, dvd's, hats in the six hours we were there, and we didn't even see the whole centre.
The best part of the day was getting into a taxi and not having to worry where he took you. Thank god for metered taxi's!!! *note: the pretty pink ones... While we may have driven for twenty minutes longer than we should have, it was still 1/6 of the price of an illegal cab.
Now the weekend has come around, Khao Sahn Road has really spiced up. It's looking less like a back alley and more like a scene from "The Beach." See the photos for an idea, and we appologise for the lack of photography skills... Although in our defence, we were constantly fending off hilltribe folk trying to sell their trinkets.
And dad, i suggest you take a print out of the transformer i have uploaded, its about 8 feet off the ground and makes a scarey hum.... And it seems for every powerpoint in the homes, a seperate cable comes out and attaches wildly to the mains.
Hope to hear from you all soon, we are pretty sure we are heading to kanchanaburi tomorrow to check out the "Bridge over the River Kwai" version 2, because the original was removed from the scene some years ago.
Love you all! Ben and Nic xoxo
