We found out last night that our walls were incredibly thin, we could hear our neighbors quite well while we were trying to sleep. This trip was tiring is out! We had breakfast at the bakery that we found yesterday. It’s amazing how different the coffee is here in Monteverde compared to Arenal. I’m drinking coffee 10 times a day because I’m going to give it up after we get back home.
We got picked up to go to the ATV company. There were 6 ATV’s in the group, it turned out that 3 of the folks in our group were our suite next door neighbors! Too funny, what a small place! I recognized the car that they pointed out as being the one in front of the bungalow it was fun to meet some nice people along our trip. The scenery was amazing, we got to see the rolling hills again, and it didn’t rain like our other ATV trip. The ATV’s were the same brand as the last time (all of CR it seems have these Honda machines, go figure) but these were incredibly worn out!! My back brakes didn’t work at all which was really scary, and Dallas’ machine kept stalling. Dallas likes to go really fast and wild on the machines and wanted to go to the back of the line with the other boys but the guide said he was too crazy and wanted him to be up in the front with him because he needed to be watched. Unfortunately he forgot his sunglasses so kept getting pebbles in his eyes, poor guy. But thanks to Dallas’ wild ride he was able to get the rest of the group’s faces really dirty, and my sunglasses scratched! Thanks man. The roads on the hill were really bumpy, it would have been nice to have some quality machines it would have made the ride a lot more fun, but being able to get out to where we were was definitely worth the experience. Our neighbors were so kind to give us a ride back to our hotel which was a blessing because it turned out a German guy that we shuttled up with on the taxi-boat-taxi was waiting for over 45 minutes for a ride back to his hotel!
I called the front desk and they gave me a piddley hair dryer. Better than nothing that’s for sure. Their bathrooms have shelving, so inconvenient! My abs are so sore from rappelling, I’ve never worked out my abs so much in my life! We were looking for trinkets to bring home and walked downtown again. Dallas HATES walking, damn speeding cars. I found a few gifts at an art gallery nearby, they have beautiful wood here in Costa Rica.
We had dinner at Chimera again and ran into our hotel neighbors there Chris, Janice, Patrick and Heather from New York. We had some dinner with them, they are all so delightful and it was great to have company with some really nice travelers.
