Well, I'm finally here!! It only took over 2 years in the planning but it finally happened :)
After months of people asking me if I was excited and looking forward to the move and me just NOT feeling that way at all I can finally say that I am genuinely excited about being here!!! :)
HOWEVER...
What is all this rain about?!?!?!!!! it was lovely and sunny when I arrived on Wednesday morning but since yesterday it has just constantly rained... think england on a "summers" day i.e. hot, muggy and wet. I mean is it just one big Australian publicity stunt to get people to move here by telling you they have sunny weather here??
Also, I saw the best thing ever today... I should have taken a photie, perhaps I'll go back sometime. I was walking up the wrong way of George Street (I was meant to be going in the opposite direction but didn't realise until I'd walked about 2 miles!!) and I walked passed the Central Baptist Church... no I didn't have an epiphany and renounce all my wicked ways (although having seen what I saw I was sorely tempted)... and there was a big banner outside the church which said "This church isn't full of hypocrites... there is always room for more"!!!!
FANTASTIC!!! A religion that has got a sense of humour and can laugh at itself. :) The world really is upside down here (in a good way)
Other than that I've just been organising boring things and sleeping. Arrived on Wednesday at about 9am at the flat, didn't feel too bad considering the bumpy ride I'd had on the new Airbus however thought I'd have a couple of hours lie down since I hadn't been able to lie horizontally for days! I woke up 14 hours later at 1.30am Thursday morning!! DOH! so much for combating jet lag!! So yesterday I decided I'd be sensible and try to stay awake all day, so off I went to town to do sensible things like get an Ozzie phone and bank account and get my recruitment agent to buy me lunch ;o) but by 3.30 I felt knackered so wandered home for a rest. After getting home about 5ish I again fell asleep and didn't wake up till 6am Fri morning!!! double DOH
Saw on the news this morning that a British Airways flight crash landed... SO glad I decided not to fly BA :)
What else....?
The flat where I'm living is ok, nothing great. Suspect I'm getting ripped off a bit. But it's not forever and I'll be looking for my own place in no time at all... still in two minds about what to get... flash, modern apartment or cute, homely, victorian terrace. I'd love to get the terrace but suspect the apartment would be the "sensible" option.
I should have all my basics organised by monday next week so I think I might see if I can fit some day trips in... perhaps one to the blue mountains and one to the vinyards (of course! :) ) Won't be much fun in the rain though :(
Where am I? Sydney or Sidmouth? answers on a postcard to....
