Washed out in Hayman Island

2008-01-15, Hayman Island, Australia

We flu into Hamilton Island from Sydney and then on a chopper to Hayman Island. Flying to Hayman we passed several islands and Sam & Callum got excited at the prospect of both sailing and snorkling in the barrier reef.

However, for the first time in 10 years the area experienced terrible weather and the hotel in Hayman was completely unprepared for such a volume of rain. Despite this, the Hotel resort on Hayman was fantastic and when the sun shone it looked a a dream location. Sam & Callum went sailing in the rain and were about the only ones who did. We enjoyed the relaxation of Hayman, the food, the wines and on the last day even played Squash, table tennis and got dragged out in a Kayak. That required considerable energy and strength - I would have much preferred the sailing in the hobicats.

It was a pity we could not fully avail of Hayman - so no slagging when we come home that we have no tan ! Anyway we would definately return there, but only if we had guaranteed sun.
