We arrived back in bangkok on the 20th of December and spent afew days deciding if to go back to one of our favourite locations-Koh tao or head over to Vietnam pretty much straight away.We thought it best to go straight to Vietnam incase we really liked it so we could stay there longer. This meant spending afew extra days in Bangkok waiting for our visas.
We've been reminded again of what a wonderful but strange place Bangkok is. The area which we usually stay near is koh san road and is always buzzing. It never fails to be packed full of so many different colours, smells and wierd and wonderful looking people. The whole area is also also full of shops and market stalls selling copied dvd's,clothes, bags and anything that the thais think the tourists want.I have a problem walking past the food stalls without trying everything that there is to offer and although Jan is not as keen ,she is getting better and nearly always trys mine. She even impressed me the other day by trying an assortment of different fried bugs(after about 5 beers) and although we won't be in a rush to eat them any time soon they wasn't as bad as we expected.
One of the first things i did was to go for an all over oilly body massage which was fantastic and Jan followed for another of the relaxing Thai facials that she loves.
We decided to treat ourselves to a nice hotel for christmas(for about 12 quid a night) and it was a good job because we both ended up with food poisoning the day before christmas eve, so were really glad to have a bathroom in our room for a change,Jan was alot worse than me bless her.We were alot better on christmas day but not able to go out and celebrate much but never mind,we'll have to make up for it on New years.
