Last night we went to a Traditional Chinese Opera and Puppet Show. It was great. Before the show the performers we in the lobby applying their makeup and the audience could watch. There was also traditional music being played. You could also pose for photos with the performers and try the puppets. The Puppet show was great, the puppets were beautiful and the music was being played by a group of very old men who were behind a screen. The puppet show was based on the story Kiddy Red & the Journey to the West. There was a couple of fight scenes and fire and smoke.
Then the opera was called Joys of Peking Opera, Borrowing the fan. And the story was about an group including the emperor who are traveling to pay homage to Buddha. They encounter obstacles along the way including Fire Mountain which they cannot pass without the Plantain-Leaf Fan. The need to borrow it from the Cow Kings Wife, but she does not want to give it to them. So a fight ensues. The whole thing was amazing. The acrobatics and fight scenes were crazy. The make-up and costumes were beautiful. It was great.
