I’ve been feeling guilty lately because I am looking forward to heading home for the holidays. But, should I really feel bad about this? I have been gone for a good three months and that is a long time for me; after all I’ve been called a mama/daddy’s girl once or twice. On the other hand, I worked 3 jobs this summer to save enough money to live in Italy and to enjoy every moment of it. I shouldn’t be counting the days until I get to be home and go back to my old life, should I? I already know what is going to happen, I am going to get home and ecstatic to be there. I will get to catch up and have coffee with my mom, tease my dad, and give all my brothers and sisters their presents and spend the holidays with my family. Then come January 10th when the holidays are over and I am back to my mundane routine of work Monday through Friday, I am going to wish I could be back in Italy. Back to traveling the world and enjoying a different culture. Alas, a life of traveling and luxury doesn’t last forever. I will have to finish school eventually and I suppose my life isn’t that mundane! ?
Anyway, this weekend Emily and Ana are in Paris and Britt is with her friend, so it is just Lexi, Jackie, and me at home. On Friday the two of them are tagging along with me on a class field trip to a monastery, Santa Brigda, in the Tuscan countryside for my History of Christianity class. I’m really looking forward to this trip. The rest of the weekend is up in the air. I’m definitely going to and English speaking mass on Saturday afternoon at the Duomo and walking around the city to take some last minute pictures. We’ll see what the day brings!
Emily and I started a list of things we have to do one last time before we leave Florence. Here it is:
1. Eat at Il Volpe e La Gato (our favorite Italian restaurant) 2. Visit the Boboli Gardens 3. Shop at Zara 4. Take lots of pictures 5. Walk around Piazza Signora
Tonight we are going to dinner with the roomies at Il Vope e Il Gato and yesterday we did some shopping at Zara so I can cross those off. Oh, so much to do, so little time!
Ciao,
Katie
