Dalat was a really awsome place. I met up with this Kiwi girl who had just come from a year working in Canada at Sunshine Ski Resort in Banff. I convinced her to go Canyoning which was one of the best experiences I have had here in Vietnam. Canyoning is rappeling down 25m clifs and waterfalls, and that is just what we did for a whole day. Your guide has a safety rope on you and he is anchored into a rock or tree at the top, and you let yourself down walking down or sometimes, to avoid something, jumping out from the clif and dropping yourself rapidly! The best was the 25m waterfall which we walked right down the center of, and at the bottom you had to just drop the last 4 or 5 m into the pool below, cause there is too much water falling on you to see or anything! We also slid down a waterfall on our backs and got to do some cliff jumping....was a really great day! I went on a tour of some silk factories and some coffee bean farms in the valley with some motorbike taxis who called themselves the Easy Riders. Id never seen how silk was made, really cool.
I went to the beach town of Mui Ne next because the rain was comming into Dalat. I was walking around looking for a Hotel and of course I ran into the English 4 Dan Marc Nick and Neal. Mui Ne has sand dunes all around the town, kids will rent you their sand sleds and you can go ride the dunes. I rented a surf board each day I was there and spent each day at the beach! I had to rent a motorbike taxi each day to get to the beach that had the best waves 20 km away. It gets kinda harry riding on the back of a motorbike with a 7 foot board under one arm but I put on my big boy pants and made it through! Its also the biggest resort town that I have ever seen and there was loads of kite surfing, on a windy night it was really neat to see 30 some kite and wind surf sails all over the horizion. Ive got to cut you all off there cause I am going cross eyed looking at this screen! I will update some more when I get to Cambodia!
