So I swore to myself that I wouldn't do BLOG, but I have concluded that maybe it would be best at times....So pardon if some of you may get a forward of the same email or something.

Well I'm having a great time in Ghana!! I went to my site (which I'm not allowed to post my site on the web)for five days!! I love it!!! I traveled from down South (maybe 4 hours) to the Northern Region. I didn't know what to expect. About 11 of PCVs and our counterparts and supervisors crammed ourselves in a tro, our luggage on top and nerves kicking in. I sat in the most uncomfortable seat in the world!! Right by the slidding door, a folding chair with the back rest reaching only my lower back...a bumby and turing ride and no where to rest or recline. Wahtever....The temperature changed from being warm/hot to hot/hot!!!! My supervisor from the Carter Center picked me and my friend Ledor up fro the tro station and took us to our sites.

SITE:
Ugh huh!! "So here's your corcodile Dam....and there's your house", said my counterpart! "CROCODILE DAME?" that's right i live maybe 2 blocks away from the dam!! I was too interested in the dam, which made me think of Stephanie's story from Geoglein's, that I missed my house...we pulled up on dirt path and passed a primary school and JSS school. I live 1/2 block from the school. Anyways...the important thing is....I live in a copmound with 5 Ghanaian men (teachers). Its totally intersting, but they are a ton of fun!!!!! So when I got to the door 6 men were there to welcome me!! THey were so excited for me to be there. They took all my stuff and walked me around my house. They taught me how to lock and unlock my door and where my "future" latrine will be and the bath room. Then they told me that we had to go to the Chief's palace.

Chief's palace: I was again nervous to meet him. I entered the round room and there were 10 men all sitting in their asigned seats. The men that greeted me were all around me translating and with HUGE SMILES!! The chief made me cry. He was so excited that a foreign peson has finally reached his village to help his people. Even though we are of different skin we speak the same language and is really happy god as brought me to him and the town peacefully. He said that now he welcomes me into the family and that the family has been extended, so he gave me a local Dagbani traditional name, Tungtia!! Then I lost it!!! I tears and all these happy emotions ran inside me!! If I had doubts on my purpose for being here, after meeting him and walking around the village totally changed my mind!!

I am the first volunteer at my site and there is desperate need of AID!!!!! I'm totally excited to help!! I spent the five nites alone in my compound for 2 nites, nothing, but my bed, a wooden table and a chair. and the toads hopping around outside the screen fence. OH what life!! I can't wait to fix it all up and by the way my new Ghanaian friends got me a small black puppy with white feet!!

Well that's all the time I have!!

Peace out!
