After we had spent a final night out in Kuta where we surprisingly met John and Darcia again, we left Bali for our last leg on our Indonesia trip: Gili Trawangan, one of the three Gili Islands belonging to Lombok, was the destination of our choice.
But how to get there? First we took a prop airliner which took us to the capital of Lombok, Mataram. Having arrived there, we decided to charter a private transport in order to avoid the local mafia gang in the harbour town Bangsal, which we had already read so much about in advance. But as Indonesia belongs to one of the corruptest places in the world, even that turned out to be an unreliable choice. So, we ended up in a situation where our private pick up unloaded us just 2km before Bangsal harbour from where the boats where supposed to leave towards Gili Tranwangan. Basically, there was no other choice but to find our way through the bothering local crowd who was trying to sell off any trashy rubbish one can imgaine. But finally somehow we ended up in a small tiny boat bringing us to Gili Trawangan - a trip Kirsten did not really enjoy... well to be honest she turned out to be rather hysterical.
Nevertheless, once we arrived on that small beautiful island everythig was forgotten and the coming days we spend our time relaxing...on the beach, snorkelling, watching sea turtles, reading and enjoying the local seafood cuisine (yummy Lobster). See for yourself on the pics attached. ;-)
