I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with Pisa; it is a very underrated city.

When we got off the train we found a map and saw that you only needed to follow the main street and take a quick left to see the leaning tower. Since this was our main purpose, we didn’t veer off course and just stayed on the main drag. It was about a half hour walk and when we finally saw the tower we were astounded at how much it really was leaning! I know it sounds stupid, but you have to actually see it to get the full impact. We spent about an hour walking the main square of the city and took the classic tourist pictures where we are holding up the tower (see photos!). Before we headed home we walked through a market and did a little browsing in some local shops.

I started Saturday by going to the market and picking up ingredients to make homemade salsa. My mom told me she made it for my brothers birthday party a couple weeks ago and I have been waiting to make it myself ever since. So, I went to my favorite stand in the market and picked up the fresh veggies needed. The lady that runs that stand is so sweet and gives us a free clementine every time we stop and see her. Yes mom, I also picked up some of those delicious olives you loved so much.

Before we left for Pisa Jackie helped me chop everything up so we could let it sit while were gone. When we got back at night we had a Mexican fiesta and made quesadillas to go with our salsa. It ended up being a great night with the three of us.

Tonight Emily and I are going to listen to our friend sing at a restaurant in Florence. He is our age and works at a stand in the market for 2 months every year while he studies art in Florence. He is really nice and always gives us a great deal on ties and pashminas. He is leaving this Thursday to travel Europe so we have to go tonight since we have been promising him we would for the last month!

Well, I have to finish my power point for a presentation tomorrow. Ciao!

Love,

Katie
