The sentinals watch the river and guard over it. Hovering towers of forested mountain - where the jungle has washed away leaving patches of limestone faces that look and watch and wait.
"Have you been waiting for me?" I ask.
"We wait for all who come." They say.
It is not so much that the stream water flows horizontally as much as it comes straight up from the bottom. Like lips that pucker the surface to kiss the air.
The forest is alive here. The forest is always alive. It looks like a limestone green sea of leaves that wave hello to me. Sometimes the birds skirt the crests only to be swallowed by the treetops.
The belly of the dragon cave smells like water. As you walk deeper the dripping shapes the roof and makes pools int the floor like miniature rice terraces. As you recede back to the real world - it is a bombardment of green and soft light.

China was great but Vietnam is AWESOME. Jungle covered temples and caves and forested land that isn't being developed. i am enjoying it tremendously. I am off to a place called Halong Bay. Hope the weather is nice and i will begin the task of the 2 month tan!
