| | | Grade 5 Rapids!! | | | | | We left Kampala at 7am on a bus for Jinja. On the way we picked up about 30 other people and arrived about 10am.
Within 30 minutes of being there we were kitted up and in a raft with our guide “Big J”. He told us what was what and how to do it. There were 9 of us in a raft. We opted for “Wild” rather than “Mild” so we were guaranteed to get wet over the 20 miles and 10 rapids.
We did 6 rapids before lunch and 4 after with some hefty paddling at times in between. Lunch was on an island in the middle of the river which was nice and we cooled off from the baking sun in the pools between rapids and chucked each other in and just had fun!
The only downside was that we missed the main part because we didn’t paddle hard enough. A 3m drop over a waterfall which would have been pretty extreme.
We all finished the day pretty exhausted and sunburnt but the free beer at the end help to relieve that. We then got on the back of a flat bed truck and headed back to the camp at Jinja for more beers and more beers and more beers.
Day 73
Woke up today with a slight hangover and found out England lost 2-1 to Russia. Chilled out for the day and am waiting for Hannah to do her “Double Dip” Bungee jump with the other Hannah. A 44m drop in the dark with a drink from the Nile to celebrate! And if you were wondering – no i'm not doing one – if I was meant to drop from great heights I’d be born with wings!
