Good-bye Silvery Moon, Hello COOKIES!!

The day after the Black Moon Party was a lazy day for everyone. We managed to muster up some energy to check out a little town up North, called Thong Sala. We found ourselves a cheap little market to taste some Thai treats. The pork dumplings in rice paper were pretty solid, but not nearly as good as the egg and coconut waffle sandwich with chocolate syrup in the middle. MMmm.. Mmm.. GOOD! Afterwards it was back to Silvery Moon for a big BBQ with everyone with plenty of chicken & prawns and some of the best potatoe saladwe have ver tasted!! It was the final night for most of the people we had met at the bungalows and we were sad to have to say good-bye. Like everyone else it was time for a bit of a change so we decided to head North in hopes of some good snorkelling. Before we left though Reg had to have a cooking lesson from Beat, the owner, on how to make his celebrated green curry thai soup. We'll have to put it to the test when we return home. After the cooking lesson we rented a motorcycle to travel around the island. We found a few temples and lookout points along some sideroads , which we wouldnt have otherwise seen. Eventually we made it to Cookies Bungalow. We had to check out the place we had heard so much about from other travellers. A little more expensive than the Silvery Moon, but still cheaper than the major cities, it turned out to be a pretty sweet place. Apart from the dowpour of rain both days we were there and the one-day one-eyed mysterious blindness of Reg the stay was still really chilled out. For one day and one day only Reg was the one-eyed monster, but luckily for us it didnt last any longer. After his sight returned just as mysteriously as it disappeared we braved the rain with our pink and blue panchos to a Fishing village up North, called Chaluklom. We were told by a local that it was a neat place to see and offered some good fresh seafood dishes. It definitely lived up to its reputation and more. The village offered us some good photo ops and the food was amazing, although only one of our stomaches was really up for it(Reg's). I think after a few tries I've surrendered to the fact that Thai curry soup and my tummy dont quite like each other.
