Home sweet home, how does that saying go – Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina? After a crazy number of flights and many months away from home – I have would have to agree. Flying in over Charlotte, NC despite being exhausted was a beautiful sight. I was so lucky to be able to spend a few days with my family in Charlotte catching up with my parents, brother, grandparents, and all my aunts, uncles, and cousins before returning to Oz. Since I’ve been gone my aunt Kathy and 2 cousins, Nic and Shell, have gotten pregnant – so 3 more babies will be added to the Fumo family very soon. Additionally my brother, Raymond, moved back to NC from Germany – so it was great seeing him again.
Although my mom was not too happy about it I managed to sneak away to visit with friends back in Ocean Isle Beach for the weekend I was stateside. It was so great getting to see all mates : ) Thanks to Christy for giving me a place to crash and to Lizzie for making the long overdue trek down to the beach. Everyone was so nice and tan from a summer of laying out and no one could understand why I was so white having come from Australia – I tried explaining how June, July, and August were winter in the Southern hemisphere but the more adult beverages we consumed the less that explanation seemed to hold up. Laura and Mike added another Hunter to the clan while I’ve been gone – seeing Elijah for the first time was wonderful. He is such a cutie.
Obviously I would have loved to spend more time back in NC but what little time I was home was great. Next time I go home it will be for good : )
