Plzen - Day 1 (I slept all day)

2007-09-19, Plzen, Czech Republic

19 September 07

I arrived in Plzen but stayed in my bed all day. Successful use of Czech at the bus station, asking directions to my hostel. I feel like I expect each trip (bus, train, find the hostel, etc.) to be difficult which helps b/c when it's only slightly difficult, or fairly easy, then it's exciting. Like here. Find the "Informatce" sign, ask a question, follow a map.

I learned some new words at dinner tonight: tomati, voda, caj (chai). I successfully ordered "caj, prosim". I like the way people pronounce/intone the "you're welcome/here you go" 'prosim'. It sounds like they are genuinely hapy to give you food/drink/change/directions/a guidebook.

Finally, I'm getting used to the walk-infront-of-moving-cars right-of-way concept. If you don't go, they stop and motion like, "helloooo, go!" So, there you go. Prosim.
