Sorry this has taken so long! We're in mission beach at the moment and we've basically only just got internet access so iv got to try and remember everything now! so....We left Cairnes on the 5th after staying in the Calypso hostel for a night and headed up to Cape tribulation. We did a tour where you have a day of activities on the 1st day, then you stay for however long you want in Cape trib then they pick you up and you go back to cairnes. So on the way up we visited a rainforrest sactuary where we got to feed kangaroos, stroke a koala :D and hold snakes etc, we were also introduced to the infamous cassowary-more about them later. We also visited mossman gorge-a cool place in the rainforrest where you can swim in the daintree river and meet the local aboriginal who often visits it-he was quite crazy but very funny! he gave me a big fat kiss and said he missed me, and he thought tom was my husband haha! We then went for lunch and afterwards we were introduced to the tradition of licking a green ants bum! mum you would have loved it! Its the weirdest feeling ever-it feel like an electric shock that tastes of citrus! really weird, we had a numb tongue for hours! On the last stretch of journey to Cape trib our guide decided it would be a good idea to tell us of all the dangers that awaited us in cape trib. These included crocs-saltwater so they're in the sea (and they have eaten a substantial amount of humans!) we got warned about snakes, spiders, scorpions, jelly fish, sandflies (the wee acid on you) stinging trees ( they shoot needles of acid in your skin and you can be in pain for years!) and not to mention the cassowary...these large birds have a claw like a carving knife on their feet and if you annoy or threaten them they will jump and kick you with it! If you've really annoyed them, they will bring you to the floor and attack you with the claw-basically rip you open and eat your intestines! So yes i was petrified! It was made worse when we arrived because i realised we really were in the middle of the rainforrest...
