Id recommned a car hire for Vegas if you want to do some shopping and some of the trips! We got a good deal from Alamo and hired a Rav 4. We got to pick which car we wanted so that was fun!
There are really good shopping outlets around Vegas. There is one near the Stratosphere hotel called the Premium Outlets. Id say this is the best one. We went here twice out of our 7 night stay and spent lots of money here. I especially like the Roxy brand and the clothes here are more than half the price of that in the UK! Bargains to be had! There's lots of other shops, Quicksilver, Ripcurl, Guess, Timberland and all very very cheap.
Theres the Primm Shopping Mall about an hours drive from Vegas but it had the same shops so not worth it! Nice drive though.
Hoover Dam is a must see....its only about an hour away from Vegas and you actually cross into the State of Arizona. Lots of pictures taken here, was worth the drive!
We were going to drive to the Grand Canyon, but we decided it was too far. Its about 5 hours to get to the main tourist part. You can also do a helicopter tour but since we spent all our money in the casinos and shopping we decided against it! I will defo do it next time!!
