Goodbye Airlie Beach

2007-10-07, Airlie, Australia

Now the waiting game. I sit and wait for the bus to take me on a 15 hour bus ride to my next location, Hervey Bay. I was going to go sailing for a couple of days but what ends up happening in Airlie Beach is that you go out and party every single night and your money becomes a figmant from your memory. I can now not afford to go sailing. Way to go, Airlie, way to go. I made some awesome friends here and drank way too much.

Airlie Beach is a party town and when I say that I really mean there is nothing to do here unless you want to go out and giver. The funniest part about backpacking is the sacrificing of food over alcohol. I can spend $8 on a sandwich or a box of goon... The goon always wins. I went out to some clubs around town this weekend and stayed out until 7 in the morning only to be woken up by some really annoying old Dutch guys.

I made some wicked English friends in the past week here at Airlie and got completely molested by the sun. The tan I lost in Melbourne is now back and dark as ever which is exciting. Hervey bay is supposed to be a good place to go and relax for a couple days so I am definitely looking forward to doing that after staying out too late and drinking too much.

So what's next? I'm not sure but I can't wait to find out. Making my way down the coast by myself has been an awesome experience. I am forced to go out and meet people unless I want to be a loaner and hang out and play with myself. If only it were a paying job... Anyway, Australia has been getting better and better and I do actually think its because I'm by myself. I have just met so many random people and done some retarded shit this week that its been so much fun. Losing my phone (RIP) was a piss off but I did buy a new one and have the same number.

Last night was insane. It was the Australia vs. England Rugby World Championships and those two countries are favorites to win the whole thing. As I sat with some friends all I could hear was the roar of the crowds as both countries had impressive showings of people sitting at the pub. First Australia singing their national anthem, then it was Englands turn. It was fun to sit and watch them, as people are so passionate about that game that it's incredible. Personally I don't care, but I did find out the Oilers won again tonight so that is fantastic in my books.

Mom I'm not dead stop worrying.

Time has been flying by and I've been having so much fun. Being poor was never better.

Next entry: Happy Thanksgiving in Hervey Bay
