30 09 07 travelling to venice
An early start to the day – we got up in the dark. I think most had a restless night, knowing that e had all to be gone by 7.30am. no problem, we were packed, ready down for breakfast in good time, and there were no holdups – the baggage fitted, we dumped the rubbish in the bin at the front gate, knowing that we had left the Chateau in good condition, and the next guests would have nothing to complain about.
Getting to the airport was no hassle, bless the little naviator – and we were there before our gate opened – time for a coffee.we weren’t able to access the club lounge, and the girl on the desk, when we were able to get our boarding pas, was painfully slow. We know now she was inefficient – more about that later.
The flight to London was uneventful, and we looked forward to getting there and resting for an hour in the lounge. Think again. Only Phil had his club card with him, so it was only the two of us who went in. We had a look around, went up to the second floor and headed for the drink counter. I spied the tomato juice an was happy – Phil decided I should make a Bloody Mary – I would have been happy without a drink. We were accosted by a scot, who recognised the wallaby hat that phil wears, and we spent a very pleasant hour being entertained by James and Sarah who were on theri way to Prague to celebrate her birthday. They had both spent time in OZ, separately, when they were younger. The time flew.
We walked forever to reach the gate – 109- and when we reached there, the plane hadn’t even touched down! When we finally boarded, we found that the pilot had a geat sense of humour, telling us that he would endeavour to get us to Venice as quickly as possible – going mostly straight there, but with a bit of a wiggle to avoid therich people’s houses and without, he hoped, too many bumps.
Arriving in venice we wanted our bags off the carosel quickly so we could experience the water taxi. Phl’s and Sue’s bags did not arrive. What a drama – not the bags, but trying to report it and et the paperwork done. Assuredly, the bags were left a Gatwick nd they would be on the next flight, and wouldbe delivered to our hotel the next morning. (do not ever believe that story) it was ten o'clock the next night before we saw it!!!!)
