Xi'an is south west of Beijing and is the old capital of China. I can't remember which emprorer moved the capital to Beijing.. but it was moved. I am enjoying Xi'an more than i thought i would. This hostel is by for the cutest one thus far. Its in an old building next to the city walls and there is traditional decor. So Cute!
you can rent a bike and ride the perimeter of the wall - Xi'an has one of the only completely intact city walls left in China, it was quite fun! I was way too tall for the bike and my kick stand kept falling down and scraping the pavement and all the chinese people thought it was good fun to have a laugh at the foreigner riding a bike! I still wasn't feeling totally up to par, but i had to get out of the dormitory. I met a frenchman on the bike as well, who is pretty darn near fluent in chinese! The people loved it! and i just stood by and watched and chuckled and enjoyed myself and the people.
Then we went to the Shanxxi museum which was fun, but what i really enjoyed was the kites! up in the air there were dozens of kites! the people still have their national holiday this week so there were tons of people about. But the kites just freckled the sky and trailed into the wind.
So, tomorrow is the terracotta warriors - the hostel next door has two dogs, one male one female named Tara and Cotter get it TaraCotter?!? HA! I thought it was witty.
Let's seeeeeeeeeee, not much else, i am trying to kill the next half an hour until i can call the health insurance back home. They are trying to charge me for something they shouldn't and it is impossible to call during business hours!!! Ug.
