I thought i would write a brief commentary of my first month in China and my Week in KL to anyone willing to listen. Malaysia did not consist of much, went out with my cousin Eamon one night, which was sweet cause I didn't know he was going to be there. Also enjoying the sights and sounds of Merdaka, Malaysia's national day, 50th to be exact. This was a thrilling scene with hundreds of thousands of Malays running around the streets.
I then arrived in China about a week later, and was briskly taken to my home town Quzhou. Quzhou is a town of 2.5 million, that number includes all 9 white people in the city, 3 of which are Aussies. Us foreigners all hangout in place called the Wall Bar in the city, basically it is the only place that is not karaoke or Chinese people dancing to hard beats. Myself and Cade(another aussie) travelled to Hangzhou a few weeks ago to watch Oz play Norway in the women's world cup final, this was fun, but due to no alcohol being sold in the ground, we had to smuggle in the local 55% proof, terrible, but worth it. Last weekend is best described by its photos, a magical saturday in a bar called the Big Bamboo in Shanghai, a 6 hours trip, but worth it to watch the game and hangout with white people. The day was long and fun filled, although ended with me falling from the top bunk in my sleep and hurting my knee, I realise how dumb it sounds and I probably deserve the pain.
These have been my adventures so far, besides this I have had a ball teaching, although my textbooks are atrocious and laregly wrong about the western world. I am on holidays at the moment not doing much, next week I will have 10 different classes, so over 300 students, I need to prepare some things for them to do. Life is pretty sweet and anyone is welcome to visit, I spend my free time playing soccer and table tennis, also eating great food, lots of dumplings and hotpots. My main karaoke favourites at the moment are Neil Diamond and James Taylor, but all the Chinese seem to know is Westlife and Backstreet Boys. Very hot here now too, the last week has been around mid-thirties.
That's about it for now, don't have too much to tell. Being an awesome teach can take up a lot of time, I will keep putting more photos too, I went dune buggy driving on this dirt track, couple of good photos.
Cheers to who ever may read this.
