I got back to the room about 1:30 and there was no one in sight. The sun was shining more brightly today than any other day since we arrived two weeks ago. There was a slight, gentle breeze and the crisp alpine air even smelled good, so I opened all the windows in the apartment to let it all in. After grabbing a little something to eat, I wandered down the street, to the local beer pub that we’d come so fond of, and found Mom and Dad sitting outside in the patio café area with Michaela sitting there with them. They all greeted my return from Munich and ordered me something to drink. I never have been much of a beer drinker, but Michaela brought me a small bottle of her favorite beer which we ended splitting it together. After ordering something to eat, Mom broke out a deck of cards and we spent the next several hours playing Hearts and doing some people watching while basking in the warm sunlight. It dot a little intense after a while, so we moved the game indoors until we had finished two full rounds; Dad – 1, Mom – 1, Tommy – 0. I couldn’t sit any longer for one more round so I left Mom and Dad at the pub and went back to the room to begin packing and take a little nap. I thought they would be shortly behind me, but they didn’t return for a couple more hours. Mom’s arms were full of glasses she purchased at the pub for souvenirs and I just couldn’t imagine how she was going to safely pack all that glass and get through customs and security at the airport.
