I woke up especially early today, about 5:30 a.m., and decided to get dressed and make a quick run into Munich while Mom and Dad were still sleeping. I was at the Plattling Bahnhof by 7:00 in plenty of time to make the 7:24 train. I thought I would get in some good writing time in, but I ended up catching up on my sleep instead. I went strait through to exchange my shirt once more and then thought that I would take a walk around the south-western part of the inner city. The sun was shining very brightly and looked like it was going to be one of those picture-postcard days. I grab something to eat from one of the local Imbiss and just kept on walking wondering to myself how much time I should spend before heading back to the train and back to St. Englmar.
There really wasn’t all too much to see and when I came up on the subway station I decided that I’d seen enough. I wish I would have checked the return schedules when I arrived because I made it back to the Hauptbahnhof and still had another hour to kill before the next train for Plattling was scheduled to leave. So I took a little walk around the station and grabbed a bite for lunch at the Burger King there. Even though I was in Germany and don’t eat at Burger King at home, I was just craving a burger and fries and indulged myself.
Once back on the train, I sat across from two gentleman, who spoke English, and had visited North America many times. The one gentleman was an author and historian and had written several books on American history. The other man was his good friend and travel partner and had visited the Phoenix Club in Anaheim with his daughter when the club was still located at the site of Honda Center, home of the Anaheim Ducks. We had a very nice conversation on the train about politics and they also enjoyed going through some of my pictures on my laptop.
