I have grown weary... continuously answering the question of "Why Uruguay?" That is, of course, when people don't confuse this tiny nation in South America with Paraguay. Or Uganda or South Africa.
"Why not?" I tend to respond. Call me sarcastic or naive, but this answer should suffice. It seems strange to many people to unexpectedly abandon their jobs, their homes, their carefully constructed social systems - clearly this is not a move everyone should make. But personally, I'm reveling in the knowledge that I can't fill in the blanks. Where will I live? What will I do for work? Who will I meet? Your guess, if you are the type to speculate, is about as accurate as mine or Cleo's 1-800-PSYCHICS.
It will be an adventure. And all I ask for is to feel and to see and to grow. Suppose I didn't have to fly to another continent to do this, but ... the ticket has already been booked.
